We're Jagadeesh and Apoorva, a couple in Chennai who love to cook. Cooking is how we spend a lot of time together despite our work schedules, so when we decided to eat healthier, we did it the obvious way and started tracking calories.
It turned out to be harder than we thought. Eating under a calorie target is not simply eating less. You have to be smart about it, or you quietly miss your protein, your fiber, and the nutrients that actually keep you well. So we went looking for an app to help.
A few were genuinely good. Some surprised us with a paywall, which is completely fair, we just wish they had been upfront about it. A couple were so expensive it felt unreasonable for what they did.
But not one of them was built for two. None let us share a meal, or log on behalf of each other.
That last part mattered more than we expected. Some days one of us cooks, some nights the other does, and only the person who actually cooked knows the real portion. Logging separately, guessing each other's plate, it never quite worked.
So we figured there should be an app made for couples. And since we could not find it, we started building it.
We want TogetherBite to be transparent about what it is and what it costs, mindful rather than guilt-driven, and genuinely made for two people working toward shared goals, gently and without the noise.
